Moto Adventure Tasmania is commited to maintaining the highest standards, especially in the area of the quality of our rental motorcycles.

For summer 2010/11 we have ordered several new and exciting models.

We now have the most up to date fleet of motorcycles you will find anywhere in Australia.

BMW R1200GS

We have ordered two of the new DOHC R1200GS’s, a red one and a black one. These will be delivered in October 2010. The bikes on order will be ‘fully loaded’ with BMW panniers, ABS, Traction control, Tyre pressure indicator and on board computer.

We are really looking forward to these new bikes. They have a little more power, but mostly the new motor has even stronger low down pulling power than the single cam model.

Suzuki V Strom 650

For our mid size bike, this year, we have ordered a V Strom 650. Our bike will be white, but similar to the one pictured, with Givi panniers, ABS, a top box, and heated grips.

This bike has recieved many positive reviews over the last several years. The V-Strom is a favourite amongst long distance travellers all over the world. It is a good sized, all-purpose bike with a comfortable seat, plenty of leg room and a generous adjustable screen. The Suzuki Vee twin motor has been around since Adam was a boy, and is one of the most robust and reliable motors available. This will be a fantastic bike for one or two people to discover Tasmania.

BMW G650GS

One of the most popular motorcycles in our fleet. We have ordered a brand new one. We will now have two matching versions of the smallest BMW’s. Having two bikes available make it perfect for couples or a couple of mates, who wish to explore Tasmania together, but apart!!

Honda CB400

We love this little bike. Well it is not SO little. It is the perfect size bike for those of slightly more compact dimensions.

Our Honda is Red, tricolour. The paint is magnificent. The 400cc 4 cylinder motor, has plenty of power, and would have no difficulty keeping up with larger bikes in all but the most illegal situations. The seat is low to the ground, and the bike is very light, making it a very easy package to handle.

Our bike will be equipped with Ventura rack and 35 litre bag. It has Honda combined braking system and ABS on the powerful triple disk setup. We are looking forward to delivery in November 2010.

Give us a call, or click on the enquiry window, to rent these wonderful new motorcycles.

These bikes have been pampered, they are always serviced by accredited service agents.

They are thoroughly cleaned and checked for safety and condition after every use.

They are ridden long distances – these are country miles without the constant stopping and starting, this is kindest use any machine can have.

All our bikes are located in Hobart, Tasmania.

Combine the purchase of your new bike with a ride around Tassie.

The Survey

The newsletter survey had a terrific response. We are still digesting the feedback we received.

We have already responded to some of the great suggestions you made:

We have purchased half a dozen pairs of Draggin Classic Jeans for our female customers

We now have more waterproof overpants and suits available

We have an even wider range of bikes available for 2009/10 the latest additions being a new BMWG650GS and a new VTR250 Honda

The Prize

We promised a very nice DVD set of Charlie and Ewan’s excellent adventures.

These engaging fellows have done a wonderful job of publicising the many virtues of the BMW R1200GS. They have helped the big GS become BMW’s biggest selling motorcycle.

Moto Adventure would like to thank the handsome chaps who have also contributed to us to now running a fleet of 4 R1200GS’s to keep up with the demand.

The Prize Draw

The prize was drawn recently at Moto Adventure Central by a very special guest.

Click here to view the embedded video.

Happy Christmas to all our motorcycling friends

We hope to see a few of you down here in Tassie soon, but be safe and enjoy yourself wherever you go.

LJK Setright,

was my favourite motorcycle journalist, who wrote for ‘Bike’ Magazine in the early 70’s. Setright often described long distance rides at ‘press on’ rates. He particularly loved long rapid rides on BMW’s, which he often described as a “Gentlemen’s express”.

I had a ride like that last weekend. Hobart to Scamander. Then back the next day.

The Road

The East Coast Highway should be on the world heritage list for great motorcycling roads of the world.

Fast sweeping smooth bends,

occasional tighter section, and

stupendous coastal vistas over many crests and around many corners.

Glanced Out Of The Speed Induced Vision Tunnel

Every now and then I glanced out of the speed induced vision tunnel to notice the great beauty around me.

After the wettest winter on record, Tasmania’s east coast is the loveliest I have seen it in many years with full waterways, and green, green fields.

A Ride Like This, On A Bike Like This, Is Close To Heaven

I chose to take the R1200R for this trip – this bike shares the R1200GS mechanicals and suspension, but with a less unwieldy bodywork.

My short legs can comfortably reach the ground, and you don’t need the wide GS bars for a bitumen only trip.

A ride like this, on a warm calm day is close to heaven. I was not quite ‘at one’ with the bike on the way north, but on the return trip, I somehow got in the groove.

My braking points were just right, corner speed fine, and powering out of corners just worked.

A Magic Carpet Motorcycle

The R1200R becomes a magic carpet motorcycle in these circumstances.

The anti dive front suspension gives the impression of ‘slowing’ under the hardest braking.

The bike does not dive, or wriggle, the suspension still deals with the bumps, the bike just slows down.

The suspension still works for you as you flow around the corner, and the 1200cc twin just eases you back up to travel speed, without the need for gear changing, or hanging on to the handlebars for grim death.

I was very pleased that I had chosen this bike for that road on that particular day.

Regards

Ian
